Been Long Time

Well,
School is out for the summer. Work has picked up for now and my school is getting very intense. These are just a few of the reasons that the blog has not been updated. All things are going good for us. Austin will be doing marching band this summer. So, so much for a relaxing time. We are going to Destin the last week of June/first week of July. Five days on the beach. We can not wait for it. The first 5 months of this year have flown by and I sit at times and wonder how it could of went by so fast. It seems there is no time for anything any more. I was just reminded that I did not get the speech team pictures burned to a CD and handed out to all the kids. Need a break so that we can slow down and take a good look at what all is going on around us. Tonya and the kids are enjoying the break so far although they have been rather busy as well. I have been working 10 to 12 hour days. Well that is all for tonight. Hope to make a better habit of it.

Feels Like Spring

It has been awhile since our last post. Things have been crazy. So let's get an update on all that is happening. I am getting ready to start what will hopefully be my last term of classes for my Masters. This last one was a tough one and this one looks to be as hard. Tonya is finished with her teachers assistant job and has 3 or 4 more days of homework helpers left. They are all currently on spring break. Aren't they lucky. Work is work. Not much overtime these days but my days seem to be much longer and busier than before. Austin finished speech 2 weekends ago. He made it to state in both poetry and duo improv. He semi finaled in duo buy did not make it to finals. The team came in 1st place in the state in there division. That was pretty awesome. Both Danae and Austin had band concerts and graded performances. They both did well. Well, that is all for now. I am trying to do this and get dinner ready. Austin asked to mow the yard today and I let him for his very first time. He did a very fine job.

Just crazy

School has had me totally bogged down. To top it off we have had the major ice storm, no power for 11 days. Kids have been busy as well, tennis and speech. Danae decided not to play tennis for the team this year. Too many came out and not enough coaches or time to get any improvement. Austin made it to state in speech for his Improv duo and his poetry. That is in a couple of weeks. I finished the monster class and I am working on my next one. I plan to be done by Sept, God willing. Tonya is doing well and is counting down the days until school is done. Then she will be off for the summer. Ryan, Tonya's brother moved back home due to job loss. Other than that, all is well. Hope I can find the time to keep the blog up and the church web site. If you have not checked it out here is the link. http://lucasgrove.org/

Back in the Swing of things

Well, we are got back in the swing of things this week. Back to work for Tonya and I and the kids are back in school. Speech practice, band and all the other activities that keep us hopping. The routine is nice but I do miss the down time. Over Christmas I finally did something that I wanted to do for years. I bought an electric guitar and have started with some lessons. I have always wanted to play, just could not bring my self to start. So, I found a Peavey guitar and amp for a good price. Picked up a book or two and some DVD instructional and now I am on my way. I will most likely take some lessons in the near future. School is going, getting into some tough classes right now. Hopefully I will be down by July. Tonya sent off over 500 pictures of Disney and is steadily working on a scrap book. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product. Well that is all for now.

Merry Christmas

All I can say that it has been crazy around here for the last couple of months. Now that we have some down time, I am going to try to get caught up and keep it that way. Well, since my last post, speech team has started for Austin. It has kept us hopping on weekends. He has made finals in improv duo with his partner Kasey. She also happens to be his girlfriend. Danae has had tennis conditioning. School is going great for both of them. We have had concerts for band for them both. They really do sound good.

Work for me has been steady. With the economy the way it is work is starting to get slow. It will really be slow the first part of next year. I can only hope it all turns around before it is too late. We have spent a good part of December preparing for our trip to Disney. We spent Christmas there with Richard and Lois. It was a great trip. There are a couple of pictures below of Austin at speech and of Disney.

School is going well. I am hoping to be done with my Masters by July. Then I plan on working on my doctorate. We will just have to see how all that works out. It feels like I will be in school for the rest of my life. I do enjoy it so that is not a bad thing.

We spent a quiet evening at home last night for the New Year. Tonya and Austin are recovering from a stomach flu. Well, I hope this finds everyone doing well and I will try to keep up with the blog better. There will be more pictures in our online album of our trip to Disney.

Been Way Too Busy

Sorry that I have not posted like I should, but is been crazy around here. Where do I begin. First of all there will be some new pics on-line today. Pictures from our get away weekend and apple butter. Our anniversary weekend was wonderful. We spent it at bed and breakfast near Paducah. Had a great time. Then with school, work, kids needing to be every where, church and every thing else, it has been a crazy couple of months. We had an awesome time at applebutter this year. Good seeing family. Halloween was also good this year. We had a harvest party and trunk or treat at church. Had a hayride at the end. We are all doing great. Austin's speech has started up and Danae's tennis conditioning is also in full force. Keeping up with the Church's website is also keeping me busy. You can check it out at lucasgrove.org. Well, that is about all for now. Be sure to check the pics out in the photo album. We will try to post more regularly.

Our 20th

Today is a very special day for Tonya and I. We have been married 20 years today. God has been great to us the entire time we have been married. As I look back I realize he has been there with us every step of the way. From my tour in Turkey, Fort Irwin and the tough times we had when I first got out of the Army. He has always been there. All I can do is praise Him. For me, it has been the best 20 years of my life. Tonya has given me 2 beautiful children and much happiness and love. I am truly looking forward to the next 20 years. May they be as good as the first. I love you Tonya with all my heart.
